Local artists reflect on 50 years since the emergence of hip-hop music

This summer marks 50 years since the emergence of hip-hop, a music genre that’s become a cultural phenomenon with impacts that go far beyond its modest beginnings in New York City. Beyond grabbing attention for its inventiveness and originality, hip-hop influences pop culture and fashion and inspires creative urban entrepreneurship.
