Newark Police Issue Bounty for Booty of Porch Pirate

NEWARK, N.J. — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect connected to a package theft on October 15, authorities said. The incident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. near Valley Street and West End Avenue, where a resident reported a stolen package.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, the male suspect was captured on video surveillance removing the package from the victim’s property. Detectives describe the suspect as a Hispanic male with a light complexion, wearing a dark-colored long-sleeve shirt with an emblem on the upper left chest, dark-colored pants, and a black winter beanie with a white smiley face logo featuring “x” symbols for the eyes.

Police noted that the individual is known to frequent Union Supermarket on 18th Avenue. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact Newark police.

There is no actual financial reward for information leading to an arrest, other than the feeling of doing the right thing and helping a neighbor get their package back.
