Back to School Market planned

The Back to School Farmers Market at MAD will run from 8-11 a.m. at the Murphy Arts District Amphitheater pavilions, 105 E. Locust.

School supply giveaway today

The Fairview Community Development Association, St. John Baptist, College Avenue Church of Christ, the Salvation Army and other community partners will hold a school supply giveaway today 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St John Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1016 Wilson Street.

Women’s tea planned

The Friendship District will host its annual Women’s Auxiliary Tea today at the McArthur Billings Estate, 4797 Strong Hwy. in El Dorado. Former El Dorado Mayor Veronica Smith-Creer will speak, along with the Rev. Ray Johnson and Sister Brenda Billings.

Truckload of Love stop planned

Sharion’s Truckload of Love, an initiative from Meet Me at the Court to hand out fresh produce to local residents, will make a stop in the Fordville neighborhood and Hudson Place Apartments today. Call Veronica Bailey at 870-310-0391 for more information.

Bingo set

The VFW at 451 Industrial Road will host bingo this evening. Quarter bingo starts at 5 p.m. and regular bingo starts at 7 p.m.

D&G Association event set

The D&G Association of El Dorado will host their Annual Event today at 7 p.m. at the Marzell & Nile Smith Museum of African-American History, 700 Columbia St., across from First Baptist Church. The guest speaker this year is Deneisa “Coach Nesie” Jamerson. The theme of this year’s event is “Steadfast Guiding Lights Leading the Way.” The public is invited. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 for adults and children 6 or older, or $5 for children 2-5 years old.

Champagne Showers concert scheduled

DNB Entertainment will present the Champagne Showers Show tongiht, featuring T-Rell, Everett Hegler Jr and Blacc Lyriqq, this evening at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, 100 W. 8th St., starting at 10 p.m. For more information, email [email protected].

Wildcutz set

El Dorado Service League will present Wildcutz, an opportunity for any student in Union County to get a free back-to-school haircut, Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Professional Cosmetology Education Center, 460 N. Washington. Sticky Fingerz ice cream truck will provide free ice cream to students after their hair cuts. Parents are asked to ensure their children’s hair is clean and dry when they go to get their haircuts.

Genealogical Society to meet

Robert Nelson of Little Rock will be the guest speaker for the Union County Genealogical Society on Sunday.

Nelson, a great-great grandson of Elisha Nelson Jr., previously spoke in 2016 about Elisha Nelson and Forest Hill Cemetery, located south of Strong, However, his topic this Sunday will be “Tracing my Bolding Family to Bolding, Arkansas.”

The meeting will start at 2 p.m. and visitors are welcome. The back door of the library will be open for easy access.
