A personal trainer has set out a booty camp for attendees at Glastonbury Festival, preparing them to squat over the “dreaded Glasto toilets”. Liberty Baxter-Cox has come up with five daily exercises to prepare you for the perils of Glasto portaloos.
Alex Woods from Victorian Plumbing said: “We love Liberty’s targeted workout plan to prepare festival-goers for Glastonbury. The iconic festival is highly anticipated but some people just don’t realise the strain the 5-day event can put on your body, especially if you’re experiencing the festival for the first time.
“The Glastonbury site is huge, measuring the size of around 500 football pitches, meaning the event will include extensive walking across sometimes uneven terrain. Even if you are prepared for the level of walking involved, one thing you might not be ready for is the dreaded Glasto toilets.”

He continued: “Liberty’s guide focuses on squatting to ensure you’re ready for the balancing act needed to navigate the Glastonbury toilets. If you’re looking to feel festival-ready to arrive at Glasto with confidence and avoid the dreaded post-Glastonbury fatigue this guide is for you!”
The five daily squats
Liberty recommends doing each activity five times a day to start off with, before slowing building up stamina by doing more every day.
-
Sofa squat: stand in front of the sofa, sit down completely (very briefly), and stand up.
-
Tap squat: squat down to tap your bottom on the sofa, focusing on your legs and glutes, then stand back up.
-
Pulse squat: get into a squat position and stay low, bouncing a few inches.
-
Jump squat: start in a squat position, jump up, and land back in a squat position.
-
Hold squat: hold your squatting position.
The personal trainer also suggested walking with a bag to prepare for the festival: “You’re going to be dancing and walking a lot during your festival experience, so working on your fitness levels will be very beneficial. Start with setting yourself a time to walk with your bag on your back, for example, ten minutes and keep building this by ten minutes a week.
“By the end of the sixth week, you’ll be at an hour and breezing through.”
Glastonbury Festival 2024 will be held from Wednesday, June 26 to Sunday, 30 June and will feature a show-stopping line-up including Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and Keane.
